New Course Spotlight: AI Literacy - Navigating Technology for Social Good
Starting spring 2026, the School of Community Resources and Development is excited to offer a new interdisciplinary course, AI Literacy, designed to prepare students for a world where AI is rapidly transforming community work, public service and social impact.
About the Course
AI Literacy equips students with the essential skills to understand how AI systems work, evaluate their limitations and apply these technologies responsibly across community and public service contexts. Students will explore topics such as:
✔️ Ethical and responsible AI use
✔️ AI’s role in community development and social good
✔️ Critical evaluation of AI outputs
✔️ Practical applications using tools like ChatGPT, Adobe Express and more
✔️ A final portfolio-ready project tailored to their academic or career interests

AI is reshaping how organizations design programs, allocate resources and serve communities. This course empowers students to not only use AI effectively but to critically assess its impact and ensure technology supports the public good.
Open to all majors — undergraduate and graduate students welcome.
No technical background required. Just curiosity, creativity and a commitment to ethical innovation.
