How Will Covid-19 Affect Future Travel Behavior?


April 30, 2020 - Dr. Lori Pennington-Gray, Director of Tourism Crisis Management Initiative at the University of Florida recently talked with a reporter from the New York Times about how Covid-19 would affect future travel behavior. According to Dr. Pennington-Gray, there has been an increase in levels of anxiety and concern over tourism among different segments of the population. However, the travel industry is resilient, and will rebound quickly. There will be some pent-up demand for travel, especially from those in high income groups and/or the younger generation. It is likely that travel after the pandemic will be closer to home initially and tend to be more driving tourism.
