Bryce Canyon National Park Visitor Trail Study
The overall goal of this study is to provide information regarding visitor experience, experience quality, and other visitor use aspects about Bryce Canyon National Park’s below-the-rim trail system to inform development of experience quality thresholds. Specific objectives include:
• Synthesize existing social science and visitor use data to identify research needs for planning efforts;
• Evaluate visitors’ perceptions of current trail conditions and experiences including, but not limited to crowding, conflict, trail condition, interpretation, and other aspects of interest to the Park;
• Identify visitor use patterns over time and space;
• Describe the visitation profile of visitors such as motives for visiting, activity participation, trip length, party composition, and spending patterns;
• Formulate thresholds of visitor experience, specifically related to trail usage, using quantitative visitor intercept surveys.
