A content analysis of the future of tourism through the presidential state of the nation address in the Philippines (1987-2019)


Understanding how words shape political action is essential during this time of constant, mass communication. But, how much of an effect does a president's words impact policy? The value of science lies in its ability to create models and frameworks that allow for deeper understanding of a phenomenon. Tourism policy research can help us discover potential outcomes and establish the saliency of words on a given action. In this study, Robert Capistrano and Paul Notorio analyze the impact of presidential state of the nation addresses in the Philippines on the creation of tourism policy.

 

If we want to make political change, it starts by understanding the words of politicians and the desired outcomes they are hoping to achieve. Only then can we categorize and react to the policies in an efficient way.
