Tourism in Arizona state during the COVID-19

June 6, 2020 - ASU created a video with input of CST Director Christine Vogt about the impact of COVID-19 to tourism in Arizona state and how the industry prepares for recovery.

Dr. Vogt shared that before the pandemic, Arizona state welcomed about 45 millions visitors annually; 40 million visitors were domestic and 5 million visitors were international. The industry generated $25 billions revenue in the state's economy which is equal to $67 million everyday. The market will be responsive to bring back tourism in Arizona. Tourism businesses will need guidelines on how to reopen. It is also important to anticipate how travelers will think and react to the new normal such as hospitality workers wearing masks. The testing situation of coronavirus cases in the state will be an influential factor to the recovery of the industry.
