Students take part in orientation at the M Culinary Concepts Headquarters in Phoenix

It may not be a Disney movie, but last week 14 students joined the team at M Culinary Concepts (a top Phoenix-based catering and consulting company) for a pilot class focused on everything food and beverage. Students will take part in this fall class earning academic credit and hourly compensation working events in the Valley.

From weddings to conferences, sporting events, festivals and more, students enrolled in the class offered by the School of Community Resources and Development will be trained in how to set a table, serve wine, offer hors d'ouerves, refill a buffet, load and unload a truck and offer impeccable customer service along the way!

At the end of the semester, students have the option to stay on as a member of the team working even more major events, such as the Fiesta Bowl, WM Phoenix Open, Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction and NCAA Final Four (to name a few).

"I hope to learn the Food and Beverage side of events, while getting paid," said Christopher Holgate, a senior studying convention sales and meeting planning. "I am excited because this is a brand-new class at ASU that no one has done before. It is also exciting to work for the three-peat Best Places to Work company."
