Visitor and Economic Impact Study for the Navajo Nation Tourism Department
In 2023 Kathleen Andereck, Nicholas Wise, and Megha Budruk have been conducting a visitor study and economic impact study for the Navajo Nation Tourism Department. The project is an extension of the previous study that was done in only Arizona in order to provide a full account of the impact of tourism on the Nation. The visitor intercept study involves on-site contact with visitors at a variety of venues identified by ASU and NNTD in Arizona, Utah and New Mexico. The goals of the research are to:
- Gather data to construct a visitor profile of Navajo Nation visitors
- Estimate levels of day and overnight visitors to the Navajo Nation
- Quantify the economic impact of visitors to the Navajo Nation
