SCRD PhD Student Kailei Foltmer takes home prize at Research Poster Competition
SCRD graduate students shined in the Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) Fall 2023 Graduate Student Poster Contest, with Kailei Foltmer taking home 2nd place in the completed research category – an award that comes with a $1,000 prize! In her poster, Kailei presented her research, “Are you trying to be a man?”, which explored the experiences of women power lifters. In addition to Kailei’s efforts, SCRD PhD student Ziming Jin presented her work, “Investigating the differences between projected and perceived destination images of Kenya and their impacts on potential visitors’ perceived advertisement effectiveness”, and M.S. student Kelsey Scalzo presented her proposed research, “Leisure families with children with disabilities: An examination of sibling perspectives.”
Each semester ISSR invites graduates students who are doing social science research at all ASU campuses and in any field to present their research at the poster competition. Students can enter either the proposed research category or the completed research category. Posters are judged based on the how compelling the research question is, the visual presentation and the rigor of the research or proposed research.
