On April 24th, the School of Community Resources and Development faculty, staff and student scholarship winners attended an End of Year Celebration in the historic Westward Ho Concho Room. Brunch was served, awards were presented to faculty and outstanding undergraduates, and the school came together to recognize the hard work and accomplishments of the academic year.

With special remarks from Dean Cynthia Lietz, Dr. Christine Buzinde, Dr. Megan Pontes and Mr. Dale Larsen, it was an event to remember. Guests received custom, sustainable phone stands and cutlery as a thank you for their contributions to ASU and the community. A highlight was Emeritus Professor Dr. Wendy Hultsman presenting her own New American University Scholarship to students showing promise in the special events field.

The celebration was planned and executed by students in PRM 145: Introduction to Special Events Management. Taylor, a PRM 145 student, shared that "working with a great team of students to help execute this event was an amazing opportunity and thanks, Leah Coffin and Erin Schneiderman, for allowing us to have this experience. I am so grateful to the Special Events Management program!"

Kristy, another student in PRM 145, shared that the "event not only gave students the opportunity to further gain knowledge and experience from event planning, but also gave some students who aren’t in this school a chance to see what different career opportunities there might be for them."

There's no better way to finish a school year than by gathering students and staff for an end of the year celebration. Each student played an elite role in making this event happen, allowing students and faculty to be acknowledged and congratulated for their achievements at ASU. Marissa, a student with a role on the social media and marketing committee along with four other students, says the event was a great success for everyone.
