ASU Special Events Management Kicks Off Another Season
After the success of last season's experiential learning class, the Arizona Cardinals were excited to welcome 40 new members to the team for the 2023 season. Last week, students received their placement and attended orientation to once again be on the front lines for all games and events at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. Cooking and serving food from the concession stands, wayfinding and driving the ADA shuttles are just some of the roles that Sun Devils will be assigned this season. Their first test came over the weekend as the Cardinals hosted a pre-season game against the Kansas City Chiefs and their next test will be this week when Beyonce comes to town for a one-night concert.
Students enrolled in PRM 494 - Arizona Cardinals Rotational Program are earning three credits and also being compensated by the Arizona Cardinals at an hourly rate.
"It is exciting to take the education our students receive in the classroom and watch it transform into experiential learning," said Clinical Assistant Professor Erin Schneiderman, who oversees the class and the Special Event certificate and minor programs at ASU. "Our students are truly making a difference in the community, and we could not be prouder of their hard work and dedication."
This fall-only class comes with an extension to work post-season games, the VRBO Fiesta Bowl, the NCAA Final Four and many other social, wellness and educational events throughout the year.
