Undergraduate Certificates

Child Life Certificate

Child life specialists are experts in child development who promote effective coping among children who face challenges related to health care and hospitalization. This cross-disciplinary program offered through the School of Community Resources and Development and the School of Social and Family Dynamics is designed to assist students to prepare for the national qualifying child life exam.

A portion of the national certification exam eligibility requirements, as outlined by the Child Life Council, are met by obtaining this certificate.

Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) Credential (formerly American Humanics Certificate)

For a dynamic career in the nonprofit sector, there is no better undergraduate education and preparation than earning the Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance . Arizona State University is one of the leading programs in the nation that offers this preferred national certification. It can be earned: with a B.S. in Nonprofit Leadership & Management; in conjunction with the Nonprofit Administration Minor; in conjunction with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (B.I.S.) Nonprofit Administration concentration; or in conjunction with any undergraduate major.

Special Event Management Certificate

The field of Special Event Management offers opportunities to positively impact the quality of life of a wide variety of populations. Special Event Management is not just about having fun; it requires skilled professionals who can create results and build audiences. Skills that combine the knowledge and competencies of program planning, management, economics, communication, marketing, tourism and psychology. The special events industry brings millions of dollars into the Arizona economy annually, primarily through the appeal of the larger signature events, community sustainability events, culturally-based events, and nonprofit events. There are more than 1,000 events produced in Arizona annually. Special events bring together individuals who work with community festivals, governmental departments, recreation programs, events and arts venues, nonprofit organizations, and businesses that host special events.

Graduate Certificates

Graduate certificates and post baccalaureate certificates are available to students who already hold a Bachelor's degree. Graduate certificates constitute graduate work; post baccalaureate certificates are distinct from graduate certificates and are an extension of the undergraduate curriculum.

Nonprofit Leadership and Management Graduate Certificate

The Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management is a post baccalaureate certification that strives to give students an understanding of the nonprofit sector's role as steward of the public good. It provides the skills necessary for effective leadership and management of nonprofit organizations. The program is strengthened because of the variety of disciplines that contribute to its success. The Nonprofit Leadership and Management Certificate will prepare you by offering a background in the history and philosophy of the sector, and the skills to provide better services to the community.

Graduate Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship and Community Development - Online

The Graduate Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship and Community Development is a post-baccalaureate certificate program providing a framework for harnessing social entrepreneurial and enterprise opportunities and for creating transformative responses to challenges prevalent in societies and communities.  With nonprofit and social sector groundings, this transdisciplinary program combines social entrepreneurship with innovative community development, providing a basis for exploring capacity building and fostering positive change for organizations, corporations, societies, and economies.  Consisting of 15 hours of graduate coursework, the certificate is designed for both policy- and entrepreneurship-oriented students across disciplines, and includes a hands-on portfolio component.  For more information, please contact Graduate Program Director, Dr. Carlton Yoshioka at 602-496-0153 or by email at Carlton.Yoshioka@asu.edu.

Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Tourism - Online

The Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Tourism is intended for professionals who work in or desire to work in the tourism industry.  Students interested in sustainable tourism management explore the practice of management and development of sustainable tourism businesses and destinations.  Students who complete the certificate will have knowledge in topics such as the integration of economic, social and environmental aspects of sustainability as it relates to tourism; conducting sustainability audits for destinations and businesses; community impacts of tourism; and sustainable destination and business planning and management.  The program allows graduates enhanced recognition and credentials in an area experiencing a great deal of interest and growth.  Students in the program will be able to further their careers by obtaining advanced education specific to sustainability practices in tourism.  For more information, please contact Graduate Program Director, Dr. Rebekka Goodman at Rebekka.Goodman@asu.edu or call the School at 602-496-0550.
