Study Abroad Programs

During the winter and summer sessions, students have the opportunity to travel abroad, experience new cultures, and receive course credit.

Australia & Fiji Summer 2008

Program Dates : May 24 to June 28, 2008 (First five-week summer session) The Program: The Arizona State University Summer Program in Australia and Fiji is designed to offer students a unique intercultural academic experience while completing General Studies requirements in Global Awareness, Electives or Degree requirements in Recreation Management and Tourism. The program will be centered at James Cook University in Cairns, Australia and will include field trips in Australia (Sydney, Cairns, the Great Barrier Reef and Kuranda) and Fiji. Program participants will have a wide range of opportunities to experience the rich history and cultural life of the two countries.

Nicaragua & Costa Rica Summer 2008

Program Dates : July 5 to August 11, 2008 (Second five-week summer session) The Program: The Arizona State University Summer Program in Nicaragua and Costa Rica is designed to offer students a unique intercultural academic experience while completing General Studies requirements in Global Awareness, Electives or Degree requirements in Recreation Management and Tourism. The program will be centered at University of the Americas in Managua, Nicaragua and will include field trips in Nicaragua (Masaya City, Granada, Ometepe Island) and Costa Rica (Limon). Program participants will have a wide range of opportunities to experience the rich history and cultural life of the two countries.

Winter Session: Caribbean


The Arizona State University winter Program in the Caribbean is designed to offer students a unique intercultural academic experience while completing General Studies requirements in Global Awareness, Electives or Degree requirements in Recreation Management and Tourism. The 3-week program will involve 3 days of classes at ASU, followed by 10 days of field trip in the Caribbean on board a Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) cruise ship. Program participants will have a wide range of opportunities to observe the practical aspects of the tourism industry while taking classes on board the ship, as well as experience the rich history and culture in five (5) different Caribbean countries.
